Welcome to Riverwalk Landing, located on Lake Sharpe, in Fort Pierre, South Dakota. The dream of Riverwalk Landing started back in 2004 with previous owners, and has been through a series of design changes in an effort to most efficiently use the precious riverfront property. As one of the last privately owned commercial properties along the Missouri River, it is a treasure for the community of Fort Pierre. Our mission is to build a development that brings visitors from near and far to enjoy the amenities the river offers.
Located on Lake Sharpe, in Fort Pierre, South along the Missouri River Midwest Construction and Development are working to create a destination development for people to LIVE ∙ EAT ∙ SHOP ∙ PLAY. This location is perfect with it’s accessibility from the bridge between Fort Pierre and Pierre serving Highway 83, 34 and 14.
WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
This Planned multi-million dollar development will transform a portion of the riverfront along the Missouri River banks into a destination for visitors and locals. Courtesy boat docks will allow the boater to come to eat at the new "Drifters" Restaurant and frequent other businesses located within the development. The 2nd floor of the restaurant, called the "The Observatory" will accommodate 340 people for meetings, banquets and party events. Drifters and The Observatory are part of the planned Phase I of the development with a Fall 2013 start date.
The Riverwalk Marina will also be part of the Phase I construction and will include wet slips for rent and a fueling dock to gas up your watercraft. The Marina wall will be constructed using vertical sheet piling with an engineered concrete dead-man system surrounding the walls. The docks will be made of floating concrete which provides a stable and modern approach to marina construction.
What makes Riverwalk Landing unique is that it is the only dry dock facility in the state with a list of services from cleaning, to stocking, to docking your boat. As part of the Marina Operations facility we will be offering the Captain's Port Convenience Store for your boating and recreation supplies. The friendly staff at Riverwalk Landing will make your boating maintenance free by prepping and docking your boat so you just hop on and hit the river. And, after a long day on the river, drop off your boat and let our staff clean it up and put it inside the secure dry dock.
Future phases of the development include up to 20,000 sq. ft. of commercial space which will be on ground level of two buildings. The owners will provide a design/build service to customize the commercial space to the business needs. If you have a business that is seeking space, please contact us to discuss your space needs.
Upper floor levels, above the commercial space, will provide residential condominiums for the added benefit of the area. The residential component will bring a convenient consumer to the entire Teton Island development and so Riverwalk Landing will benefit all businesses in the area.
Extended stay rental units are also a part of the future construction plans, providing a full package for recreational visitors. Riverwalk Landing extended stay units will be ideal for the hunting, fishing and family groups looking for the amenities of kitchenettes for their stay.
Already located within Riverwalk Landing is Maverick's Recreational Equipment Rentals, owned and operated by Ken and Kellie Weinheimer. See their wide assortment of land and water recreational equipment at their store or online at www.mavericksrentals.com/.

LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION:
This is the best location for a marina due to the depth of the water in the adjacent main channel of the Missouri River on Lake Sharpe. The channel depth is critical to attain the necessary depth of water in the marina itself to accommodate the boats. Previous owners of the Lake Sharpe Marina business had intended to build a marina as part of their business plan. Due to various issues within their group, they were unable to fulfill that part of their plan. We picked up where they left off.
Our neighbors are important to us; and so we have had one-on-one meetings with all of the adjacent landowners to be sure that they were a part of our planning. We were very pleased to work through concerns with the Pizza Ranch and responded by designing elevations to be of minimal or improved impact to their mainstay business. Others within the development had concerns about drainage pertaining to work performed in the past, not relative to Riverwalk Landing. The City of Ft. Pierre was instrumental in helping to discuss those issues with those owners and assure them that the drainage plan for Riverwalk Landing will not impact their property. Thanks to all of the Teton Island businesses who have shown their support by making phone calls and attending many meetings regarding the project.
Since August of 2012 through May, 2013 we have attended ten meetings in the permitting process to include numerous Public Hearings of the Planning and Zoning Board and the Ft. Pierre City Council. We appreciate the time and effort these volunteer leaders have put into the process. Nine months later we are excited and pleased to be nearing the final hurdle for the permitting to be complete.
Hardly a day goes by that someone from the community stops us to let us know they are anxiously awaiting to use Riverwalk Landing. The development is an exciting and important opportunity for the area and we are committed to the project as we are to the community. As a local developer we are passionate about improving the quality of life for the residents of central South Dakota.
We look forward to seeing you playing, dining, conducting business and living at Riverwalk Landing.
